ADVENTURE

Many people come to Lake City, having never been here before, and do not always know the best practices for safety and respect to themselves, other people, the wildlife and the environment. We have put together some helpful tips for you when you visit and we hope this helps! You can get tons of information for planning your trip, places to go, where to stay, the best trails, etc. at the Lake City Visitor Center, when you get here or by visiting Lake City’s Official website.

No matter the type of recreation you enjoy, here are some helpful tips to get you started. You can read more for your adventure of choice, below.

  • Keep It Clean

Pack out what you pack in. Keep a small bag handy so you can store your trash until you make it back to town and can dispose of it. Also, if you see trash left by others, please pick that up too. The Lake City Visitor Center has a small dumpster for visitors to use if needed.

  • Always make sure you have emergency items. A cell phone, a lighter and a first aid kit could really make a difference if there is an emergency.

  • The weather can and will change in a matter of minutes. So, make sure you take along your favorite hoodie or jacket, just in case! Check the local weather before you leave so you know what to expect.

  • Please do NOT feed the wildlife! Doing so can be dangerous for you and them.

  • Stay hydrated. Many people do not realize how important this is. Staying hydrated is not only healthy for you in general, but when you come to the high country, it will help you avoid altitude sickness or worse.
